Six DuBose Middle School students were almost at school when a motorist crashed into their bus, sending six students, the bus driver and motorist to Summerville Medical Center Thursday morning, according to Dorchester District 2 Public Information Officer Pat Raynor.Raynor said about 30 other students on the bus went to school and are being monitored by the nurse for any aches or pains.The accident that occurred just before 8 a.m. on Old Orangeburg Road near Pinewood Preparatory School. DD2 middle schools start class at 8:20 a.m., Raynor said.The bus was stopped in westbound traffic on Old Orangeburg Road when a Suzuki four-door sedan in the eastbound lane dropped its right side wheels to the shoulder of the road, attempted to recover back onto the roadway, lost control and struck the bus on the front left wheel and fender area, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Paul Brouthers.As of 11:15 a.m. Thursday, there was no word on the conditions of any of the occupants, according to Brouthers.The Suzuki driver, Karolayne Nascimento, 23, of Goose Creek was charged with driving too fast for conditions, according to Brouthers.The driver of the bus, Crystal Brown, 28, of Summerville, was not charged or found to have contributed to the collision, Brouthers said.
